Four Ways To Save Up Money For A Dream Vacation

Posted on: 15 October 2015

Going on a luxurious dream vacation may not seem like it's in your budget, but there are several things you can do to save up money for the vacation you've always wanted. Use these tips to help raise the money you need for the trip.

Shop At Yard Sales

Sometimes you need to spend money to make money. During the spring and summer months, visit yard and garage sales in your neighborhood. You can often purchase jewelry at incredibly low prices. Purchase gold chains and charms that you can sell to a ""we buy gold" company for quick cash. If you see costume jewelry that you think is potentially valuable, negotiate a good deal and consider selling the pieces at online auction sites. If you find designer label clothes for sale, you may be able to sell them at local consignment shops for a profit.

Go Through Your Junk Jewelry

If you have gold chains in an unsolvable ball of tangles or if you simply have old jewelry you no longer wear, consider selling your gold pieces to a "we buy gold" location like Rocky Mountain Gold & Silver Exchange. You can remove any precious gemstones or diamonds from the pieces before you sell, or you may be able to get a quote for selling the stones when you sell your gold. Be sure to compare quotes from different locations before you sell so you get the best possible price for your items

Recycle

Many recycling plants offer money for scrap metal, aluminum cans and old electronics. Ask your friends and family if they have any of these items that they would like to get rid of and arrange dates to pick up the items. Be sure to go through your garage, basement and attic to see if you have any items that are worth money at the recycling plant, and bring all the items in at the same time. Some of the items, such as the scrap metal, will be purchased based on the overall weight. You may be able to negotiate a flat rate for your electronics. This is a great way to make some extra cash while doing something great for the environment.

Host Your Own Yard Sale

If your home is full of clutter, consider hosting your own yard or garage sale. Set up tables with flat pricing, such as a $1 and a $5 table, to make your sale more attractive to people passing buy. Create "departments" with clothing and accessories in one area and home goods in the other. Try to provide as much room as possible between tables and racks to encourage more people to shop in each area at a time. At the end of your sale, you should have a nice sum to add to your vacation savings.

Saving up for your dream vacation may take some time, but you can use these ideas to slowly build your savings. Eventually, you'll be able to afford the trip you've always wanted by doing simple things to raise extra cash.
